Exploring Opportunities in the Blue Economy
The ocean has long sustained life and livelihoods across Eleuthera and The Bahamas. Today, it represents one of the country’s greatest resources for sustainable economic growth and management.
Through new research initiatives and stakeholder engagement, OEF is launching into The Blue to explore pathways for training, conservation awareness, and community-based enterprise development.
This initiative will examine opportunities across:
- Marine stewardship careers
- Fisheries sustainability
- Eco-tourism expansion
- Marine science exposure
- Coastal resilience training
By working alongside industry stakeholders, OEF aims to identify areas where training programs can increase access to emerging opportunities, identify threats, and strengthen the protection of marine ecosystems.
