Rooted at Home:
Technical Training That Builds the Workforce of Tomorrow
Across small island communities, one of the greatest challenges facing development is the steady migration of young talent seeking opportunity elsewhere. For years, this “brain and talent drain” has limited economic growth and reduced the availability of skilled professionals across Eleuthera. Today, that story is changing.
Through CTI, One Eleuthera Foundation’s education arm, more than 700 deserving students have been trained and awarded nationally accredited technical and vocational trades certificates. We are giving residents access to education and meaningful employment opportunities while strengthening the island’s workforce from within.
Students are earning certifications in electrical installation, carpentry, hospitality services, culinary arts, entrepreneurship, digital skills, construction trades, and business operations, fields essential to the long-term sustainability of our island.
These programs do more than provide credentials; they create pathways!
Across Eleuthera, graduates are launching businesses, securing employment, supporting family stability, and contributing directly to the island’s infrastructure and service sectors. Employers are benefiting from a growing pool of skilled professionals who are learning and earning at home.
When young people stay connected to the places where they grew up, they become stewards of their environment, culture, and economy. In turn, local communities benefit from this continuity and growth.
Workforce development is not simply about employment. It is about belonging, taking responsibility, and embracing ownership. It is about ensuring that Eleuthera’s next generation can build futures without leaving the communities and people they love.
As OEF celebrates its 14th anniversary, technical training continues to stand at the heart of our strategy to build resilient people, communities, and economies one cohort at a time.
Your support provides trades scholarships where they are needed most. It also provides starter toolkits for students and new, in-demand certification programs to cultivate Eleuthera’s workforce and keep talent at home.
