Eleuthera, Bahamas–The One Eleuthera Foundation and its partners are gearing up to host a week of events honoring Earth Day 2018 under the theme “Plastic Free Paradise”.
The week leading up to Earth Day will be filled with an explosion of related activities from April 16th to April 19th. These include a preserve making workshop, recycled bag making workshop, recycled glass workshop and an exciting paint and sip event. On April 19th the Foundation will host an Earth Hour reception where patrons can enjoy wine tasting, poetry and an evening of “Mix & Mingle”.
The main event, Earth Day Fest, will take place on Saturday April 21st at the Centre for Training and Innovation (CTI) in Rock Sound. The event will promote environmental sustainability, Bahamian culture, partnership and economic development.
During the Earth Day festivities, persons will have the opportunity to unleash their inner artist and leave a mark on the community through an art project in the form of an Earth Day themed mural. Activities will be available for the young and young at heart with a kiddie corner, face painting, petting zoo and lots of games and prizes. Various vendors will provide tasty Bahamian cuisine and unique art and craft designs for purchase.
Featured entertainment will be provided by the Royal Bahamas Defense Force Pop Band and DJ Popstyle. Additional performances by Empress Verda with an Earth Day themed fashion show, Preston Albury High School, Freedom Marching Band, and the National Junior Junkanoo champs, Tarpum Bay Primary school with a Junkanoo rush-out.
This will be an exciting, fun-filled event the entire family can enjoy!
