Maisie Pinder, Community outreach coordinator for The One Eleuthera Foundation, was invited to do a presentation to the ladies of Inspirational Prayer and Fellowship Center in Palmetto Point. Accompanying her were Sue Culmer, treasurer of C.S.E and Sherry Fax, Project coordinator for One Eleuthera. The gathering included a total of 8 ladies from the church women’s group. The women were all full of questions and each were eager to ask. They all learned more about breast cancer and were alarmed at the statistics on cancer in Bahamian women. Each pledged to be more proactive with getting regular screenings. They are particularly excited about the possibilities of a mammogram machine coming to the island and pledge to do what they can to assist in making it possible.
Note: One Eleuthera COC position is funded by a grant from Susan G. Komen.
