On April 2nd The One Eleuthera Foundation’s Community Outreach Coordinator, Maisie Pinder, addressed a group of women From The Assemblies Of God Church in Palmetto Point and educated them on Breast Cancer in the Bahamas. All of the women claimed to have learned at least one new fact from the information that was shared with them and they all pledged to be more proactive with their breast health, continue with their regular screenings and make healthier eating decisions. They are all excited about the possibilities of a mammogram machine for Eleuthera and also about the proposed genetic testing that will be available on island in the very near future. Accompanying Maisie was Sue Culmer, treasurer of the Cancer Society Branch who briefed the ladies on what services can be accessed through the local Cancer Society branch.
Note: One Eleuthera COC position is funded by a grant from Susan G. Komen.
