Eleuthera, Bahamas - In the month that is designated to celebrate the visit of Christopher Columbus on his discovery voyage to San Salvador in The Bahamas, another visitor came to the same island and wreaked havoc.
The Breast Cancer Outreach program took breast cancer information to Harbour Island during the Annual North Eleuthera Regatta on October 10th where scores of persons gathered. Maisie Thompson, Community Outreach Coordinator (COC), along with three volunteers worked the breast cancer booth at the regatta site for many hours during the Saturday of the event. The booth was visited by numerous persons. The volunteers also canvased the crowd handing out breast cancer literature. The booth closed at midnight.
On the Sunday morning, October 11th, some of the volunteers attended a local church service at Action Chapel Bahamas where breast cancer literature was distributed to the congregation. Other volunteers did a walk-about in the nearby area doing the same.
Special thank you to volunteers Shapreka Clarke and Devanna McCartney of the One Eleuthera Foundation and Christie Cadet of Eleuthera Cancer Society.
