Breast Cancer Outreach Lunch & Learn at P.A. Gibson Primary

On Tuesday February 10th, the teachers at P.A Gibson Primary School received important Breast Cancer information during their lunch break. The small staff of 9 female teachers were very engaged with the Outreach Coordinator throughout the presentation asking questions and speaking candidly about breast cancer. Based on the pre-survey which the ladies participated in, there were a lot of facts learned and quite a bit of myths debunked by end of the session.

Eleuthera Bahamas -- In past years, there has been a noticeable decline in the literacy and numeracy levels of many students in schools throughout South Eleuthera.

Diabetes Here, There & Everywhere

Eleuthera, Bahamas – According to the International Diabetes Federation, one person in the world dies every six seconds from complications due to diabetes.  In 2013, diabetes accounted for more than 1.5 million deaths worldwide. There are currently over 382 million people are affected with diabetes. This number is hiking at an alarming rate and is expected to increase to nearly 600 million by 2035.

The Shared Vision for South Eleuthera, which was first commissioned by Friends of Lighthouse Point to develop a sustainable plan for Lighthouse Point and other special heritage and conservation sites on Eleuthera, inspired the formation of One Eleuthera.
